For my first route I chose the 16. Mainly because it stops right outside my front door. The 16 runs from near the exhibition center (国际会议中心) in the Southeast to near the flood prevention monument (哈尔滨人民防洪胜利纪念太) in the Northwest. It starts on Nanzhi road (南直路) a few blocks Southwest of the exhibition center and across the street form the number 93 soy bean oil factory.
From there it runs South on Nanzhi road to Gongbin road (公宾路) where it cuts west to Minsheng road (民生路). It follows Minsheng road West and then winds Northwest through the district of old Russian houses and past the Nangang Museum (南岗展览馆) to the big snowflake traffic circle at Bowuguan (博物馆).
From there it continues Northwest hitting the old train station and then running parallel to Center Street (中央大街) until it gets to Youyi road (友谊路) where it turns West for a couple blocks and terminates on Tongjiang street (通江街) next to the Friendship Palace (哈尔滨友谊宫) and just down the river from the flood prevention monument. It follows mostly the same route in the reverse direction, but cuts through the neighborhood just south of the exhibition center rather than following Nanzhi road.
I started from my house on liushun street and headed east to the terminal stop 省康复中心 (shěng kāngfù zhōngxīn). From there I wandered around the area a bit, but found nothing of particular interest. There was a fire station and a gas station and some typical Chinese suburban skyscraper apartment complexes. I then got back on the bus headed the other direction and rode to the other terminus: 通江湿地公交枢纽站 (tōngjiāngshīdì gōngjiāo shūniǔzhàn).
There were some cool looking buildings to snap a few photos of on the route, but nothing that called me to disembark and explore. At the river I wandered around, looked at the statues, and watched the people playing out on the ice before hopping back on the bus and heading home.
